Crisis that hit Methodist Church Nigeria in 1983 group about five churches under the Special Area. These were Methodist Church Nigeria: – Abule Ijesa, Abule Oja, Bashua, Folami and Igbobi. The first three opted out and joined Presidential while Igbobi and Folami decided to join the Patriarchate and remained until end of Crisis. Igbobi Folami special Area was blessed with a resident Minister in 1984 in the person of Revd. J. O. Amoran (Late).When he look over the Pastoral care of the two local Churches, the special Area had only five fully accredited Lay Preachers. He started training members for the Preaching Ministry in earnest. He was found in all applicable areas such as Sunday School, Youth , Men, Women Fellowship, Choir and Brigades much so that the Special Area became a house hold name in the then Diocese of Lagos. The Special Area excelled in Competitions and in fulfillment of financial obligation to the Diocese.
